Party Time

It seems we have reached the beginning of the birthday parties. I know that one day soon I will cringe at the sight of "another birthday party invitation", but for now I think it's lots of fun.

About a month ago, Will was invited to a "construction party" which was a huge hit!
(the workers taking a little lunch break)

(Will at one of the work stations. Concentration...)

Then a few weeks ago, there was a "train party". This mom actually told us to go have fun and leave the kids at the party! So Matt and I went and had a "bagel date" which was a nice treat. When we picked Will up, he was having so much fun and he had even gotten a tattoo!
(this better be the last party he goes to and gets a tattoo!)
(the passengers)

("Don't tell Mom, I got a tattoo!")

Last weekend, his friend Chloe had an "under the sea princess party". I don't have any pictures from this party, but honestly, Will kinda hung back and watched all the princess happenings from a distance.
I was amazed at the creativity of these parties. The food, the themes, the games they played...maybe that's why it takes 3 years before people can put a party together!

Updated: Add another party to the list! This cake was so cute that I had to post it! Will's best friend from church, Kate, had a pirate party Monday and insisted that Will be the only invitee. Her mother asked her if she was sure, while her dad was in the background saying, "Shhhh! Don't encourage her! We're getting off easy!" So the kids dressed as pirates (costumes were very short-lived) and had a blast while the adults enjoyed their own dinner! Not bad!

New Toys

This week, we got two great packages in the mail. Pop Pop got Will a motorized John Deere tractor during our visit back home in July and he decided it should come to our house so Will can get more use out of it! So a very large box arrived Wednesday and a very excited little boy was thrilled when he opened it.

Then Pops and Mimi sent us coolest stroller that I've been wanting. I wanted a double stroller, but they are all SO huge and this one is the only one that seems manageable. Mommy was very excited when she opened this box! Will keeps saying "I like my new stroller", and he tells me where he's going to sit and where the baby is going to sit. He even enjoyed watching a little baseball from his new seat.

(ohhh, i just realized how embarrassing it is that i showed you our pathetic excuse for an entertainment center...we're working on that. :)

Both toys are cool...but the weather...is not so much. Therefore, both toys are parked inside and are only being used inside. I let Will drive the tractor inside for a little while until Daddy decided it would be in the best interest of our hard wood floors to leave the tractor parked. This morning, Will got on his tractor and started driving it and I had to remind him that Daddy said we can't ride it inside (yes, I totally blamed it on Matt). Will looked at me very seriously and said, "Yeah, but Daddy's not home..."
I thought that kind of stuff wasn't supposed to start until he was AT LEAST 13!

The Tour

I wish I could have taken the camera with me to the labor and delivery wing tour, but that really would have screamed DORKY BLOG MOM! But if I HAD taken my camera, here's the pics I would have shown you. Just use your imagination.
1. Matt's face when I told him the tour/info session was 2 hours long...for 3 straight weeks. I was just kidding about the 3 straight weeks part, but he was not amused.
2. Matt's face when the tour guide starting ripping on medical students bothering the patients.
3. My face when I walked into the delivery room and remembered the pain I will be enduring in about 6 short weeks. :0
4. Will's face when he saw the babies in the nursery and then turned and asked me, "Is that YOUR baby?"
5. My face when I saw the babies in the nursery and thought how I can't wait to see our baby.
6. Will making a beeline for the window when the tour guide mentioned that sometimes you can see the lifeflight helicopter from the room window.
7. Will's face after we enjoyed an ice cream treat post-tour in the hospital cafeteria. Oreo ice cream sandwich...mmmm.

Is It Just Me, Or Is It Really HOT?

How do you know you live with a pregnant woman? If you're so cold at suppertime that you put on a fleece jacket to keep your teeth from chattering so you can chew your food. Just ask Matt. This is what he did last night while I proceeded to tell him that something MUST be wrong with our AC because I am burning up and can't stop sweating! During the night, I noticed he had the covers pulled up to his eyeballs trying to stay warm as well. But being the sweet husband he is, he never once asked me to adjust the thermostat! :)
This heat is definitely miserable, but I am sooooo thankful for our nice cool house.

As far as baby news goes...I am 33 weeks with nothing new to report. We go for our tour of the labor and delivery facilities tonight. I am very excited about this! Matt is not so excited since he already spends enough time at the hospital, but he admitted he hasn't actually even seen this part of the hospital. Plus we know it will be interesting for Will to check out the area before the big day arrives. We've been talking a lot about the baby and last week he exclaimed to my doctor "My baby will come out at _____ (name of hospital) -work". (He calls it that since Matt works there.) I'm not sure he understands the whole patient side of the hospital. He just thinks Matt goes up there to check out the lifeflight helicopter and look at the fish tank on the pediatric floor.

Housekeeping

Pardon the interruption:

I'm sorry to take up bloggy time with this, but I've lost my computerized address book and most of my mailing addresses. (Yes, I have an Apple, and yes they have problems too.) So if I know you, would you mind emailing me your address?
(In other words, if you got a Christmas card from us last year or you want one this year, please send me your address!)

Thanks. We now return to your regular scheduled bloggy programming. Nothing much to report. It is hot and we're staying inside...

Mini Reunion

My high school class did not have a 10 year reunion (not that it has actually been 10 whole years since I graduated, or 11, or 12...), so a few girls from our class have tried to get together over the past few summers. While I was in MS, we were able to get together with our kids. It is so fun to catch up with these girls and see our growing families!
Here's a poolside pic with most of our kids.

Home Sweet Home

After 9 fun days of visiting friends and family, we have arrived safely back at home. Thank goodness for a direct flight. It's pretty cool to cover 4 states worth of travel in a little over an hour! We had some friends from church pick us up from the airport and Will told them several times, "I'm going to play with MY Daddy when I get home!". We're still waiting on Daddy to get home from work, but in the meantime, Will has pulled out practically every toy he owns and studied it carefully as if it is the first time he's seen it. I have to brag on Matt and say that the house is in excellent shape considering I haven't been here in a while. It's probably because he was so busy working that he wasn't here to mess it up!

Poolside Reading

Will is definitely a chip off the ole block (the block being Matt). He LOVES to read just like his Daddy. While in AL, we visited Uncle Paul's pool but before Will would get in he had to finish up a little light reading.
I wish I had taken a wider shot so you could see the GORGEOUS pool sitting right beside him just waiting to refresh him! But don't worry, once he got in, he was a typical kid who didn't want to get out!

Pancakes!

One of Will's favorite treats at Pops' and Mimi's house is Mimi's special pancakes. She has cool pancake forms that make airplanes, trains, and firetrucks. Breakfast is quite a treat! She even packed us some for our flight. Thanks Mimi!

Handsome Ringbearer

Will is going to be a ringbearer in Matt's sister's wedding this October, so while we were in AL we went and had him fitted for his tux. It will be interesting to see how he acts on the big day! Ann bought him 2 ring bearer books that we'll work on reading in the meantime. If you ask him if he's going to be a ringbearer, Will says, "No, not today!".
