Things I Never Thought I'd Say (Or Hear)

There are many things I never thought I'd say:

Where are your pants?

So, just how long have you been brushing your teeth without toothpaste?

Do NOT pull out a booger unless you have a tissue to put it in!

Or hear:

"Mom! Catherine caught the tennis ball I hit and it didn't even hurt!" (Will)

Me: Do you want a pear?
Andrew: Of UNDERWEAR?! HAHAHAHA!

(Me tossing tennis balls to Andrew...)
Andrew: Mom, go easy on me! I'm only a CHILD!

Again...
WHERE ARE YOUR PANTS?!

Oh...there they are!

Seriously?

Friday Night Date Night

For Christmas, Matt gave me a pasta maker. I was SO excited. But the first thing I noticed when I sat down to read the instructions was that it said, "Pasta making can be a pleasure. Try it sometime when you have a relaxing afternoon to experiment." Um, that's gonna happen...never.

So last Friday night, Matt and I decided to try it out on our new version of date night. With so much going on in our lives, we've decided that date night for us will often just be eating a good meal on a night at home. Luckily we both like to cook and we both love to eat so it's fun!

I was glad that Matt was in on this one because you had to put some muscle into it!

Kneading...

Pasta sheets...Fettuccine!

Those suckers...don't they know you can buy that stuff in the package?

The boys played nicely in the basement for the night and then joined us for the meal.

They liked it!(But Will did ask if next time we would just buy the pasta because "this kind takes way too long to make!")

Happy Valentines Day!

Life Lesson #462: Always Read the Instructions

Sitting down to do Valentines with a 4 year old boy should be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Andrew and I sat down today to make his Valentines. I thought he'd be more interested if we made something cool, like superheroes! While I made the Valentines, I asked him to write his name on them. 14 times. Pure torture.

But they turned out SO cute!
As we were almost finished, I decided to double check the number in his class on the sheet of instructions which was sent out. And then I read this:

Bah Humbug. My dad always told me to read the instructions first.

5 Months

5 Months Old Today!

The babies are really starting to develop fun personalities. Catherine has finally decided that she likes it here and wants to be a happy baby. The past few weeks she has been the happiest of her whole little life.

The babies are starting to recognize each other. When they're laying beside each other, they try to hold each others hands. It is so sweet.
But then feisty Catherine usually ends up scratching James in the eye, which leads to screaming and the sweet moment is over.

They are both wearing 3-6 months with James more on the 6 months end and Catherine more on the 3 months end.

Both are eating rice cereal. Last night James tried carrots for the first time. He loved them! (He has been pretty fussy lately and we're hoping that maybe he's just ready for some more food!)

They LOVE their brothers! They laugh and coo when the boys talk to them.

This month brought their first cold to each of them. Pitiful.

Lest you think we've got this whole thing figured out, I assure you that many of our days are spent like this:

We are falling in love with their little budding personalities. We think we'll keep them! (trust me, it was touch and go for a while... :)

Where did January go?

Wow, can't believe it is already February. 2012 has started off with a bang, and I have a feeling it's not going to slow down anytime soon.

We are all staying busy. Will is taking tennis lessons once a week and really loving it.

Andrew is taking a sports class once a week that covers basketball, baseball, kickball, soccer...and mostly just learning how to play together nicely!

The babies are growing...well, like weeds!

Matt & Catherine...getting a little work done...

Matt and I took a trip to Boston to start the initial house/school hunting. We got a lot accomplished, including some must needed R&R. We ate at some fabulous restaurants including Pierrot Bistrot Francais and No. 9 Park on my birthday. It was such a nice treat to get away. My mom and her friend Suzette kept all the kids while we were away and did an excellent job! We're ready for them to come back!
