Ohio Visit

After being gone a year, we were lucky enough to make a trip back to Ohio to visit all of our friends. We had a tight time frame to fit the trip in, so Matt wasn't able to make the whole trip with us. Which meant that I drove all 4 children to Ohio by myself and he flew in later to meet us!!!

The trip there went great. I was pretty regimented about our stops. We stopped at one park and once for gas.

We had a great time while we were there. The boys jumped right back in to playing with the old neighborhood gang. It is truly a "Sandlot experience".

We were able to see one of our dear friends get married and start a new life with her family.
And it was fun seeing all these handsome boys get dressed up!

We also got to spend some time with our "friends who are like family", the Johnsons. They've always taken such good good care of us, and despite their unfortunate college football team allegiance, they are really good people. :)

Can't wait until our next visit!

Andrew

Andrew is always high energy with a heart of gold. He truly thinks of others before himself. If I offer him a choice between blue or red Gatorade, he picks blue and leaves the red for Will "because red is Will's favorite color".

He is always happy. He wakes up happy and goes to bed happy. He never tires of playing baseball. Even when it's hot, humid, and his hair is thick as a wool hat.
And he's a good baseball player. Because he tries so hard all the time.

He loves to work. He goes around the house looking for things that need fixing. (We have a few marks to prove it!)
His favorite thing to do is play baseball with his dad. It's the first thing he asks when Matt walks in the door. And they both could play for hours if the sun would allow it.

And...Andrew loves to talk. All the time. But he is hilarious. I mean, he says something to make us laugh all the time.

A few of my favorites that I've jotted down:

"Will, if we weren't in the same family and Mom let us fight each other, I would totally box your head off!"

"Mom, what is the secret ingredient you put in all your food to make it taste so good?"

Me: Andrew, you look like me, and I look like Pop Pop, so you look like Pop Pop.
Andrew: Yeah, except we don't have that hole on the top of our head.

Andrew: I wish I had diet Coke breath
Me: Do I have diet coke breath?
Andrew: Yeah.

Andrew: I really want to go visit Durham. After all, it IS my home planet.

Andrew kept asking me about a Flower of the Lion??? He meant a DANDELION!

"Dad has to work? I thought he already graduated!"

Mimi (while lugging her suitcase to the car): Mimi doesn't pack light.
Andrew: No, Mimi, you packed dark.

After one of his siblings was punished for being disrespectful to me, Andrew looked at me and said "Mom, you're a great mom. Now that's respect! " ( Eddie Haskell much?)

Best of July

We watched some local fireworks on July 3rd

And we headed to Duxbury Beach and had a relaxing July 4th (as relaxing as taking 4 small children to the beach can be). The boys really loved it and the babies warmed up to it as the day went on.

For the rest of July we were either at the pool or the ball field.

Will had such a great time playing travel ball this summer. He was finally able to play in a competitive league where the boys all worked hard. We didn't quite understand why he made the team he made in the beginning. He tried out for U8, but made a U9 team where he didn't know a single kid. I was discouraged about that in the beginning. It turned out to be a great experience. He worked so hard, improved as a player, and made some great friends. It was a great confidence builder for him.
Matt helped coach and he was truly in his element. I had so many parents tell me how good they thought he was with the kids.

The twins kept me from taking many more game pics.

The boys and I went to a Lowell Spinners baseball game

The boys went to Red Sox baseball camp...

...and Boston College Baseball Camp.

Could we possibly fit more baseball into one month??
