Me and My Little Sous Chef

I know he doesn't really look comfortable, but apparently he was because he stopped crying long enough for me to make supper!

It's the cliche we love to hate. But I am reminded of how true it is all the time. Some days more than others. Particularly this week. Several preschool moms have helped by walking Andrew down to the car for me (when will I find a school that has drive-thru drop off/pick up?!). Several neighbors have offered and kept the kids while I go to the grocery, get coffee by myself, have a date night with Matt.

Wednesday, I had to make a quick run to Target for more formula. I ran into my neighbor in the parking lot who sat with my car full of kids while I ran in and quickly grabbed what I needed without having to push my massive stroller.
That night, I took the kids to the library. In the rain. Before church. (brilliant, huh?) We ran into our barber who graciously carried my load of books out to the car and helped with the kids. We beat Matt to church so I was greeted by a friend who unloaded all the kids.
The list goes on....but I want to be able to look back and remember how blessed we are to be here surrounded by friends who are always willing to help out. We may live in a larger city, but our community is small and wonderful. I can hardly run an errand without running into someone I know.

And chances are, if you're reading this, you've probably helped us out somehow along the way. Several family members have kept and will keep the kids for us while we travel for various reasons. So thank you. We couldn't make it without all of our wonderful friends and family!

4 Months

James and Catherine are 4 months old! A lot has happened over the last month:
-they are no longer sleeping in the same bed (started waking each other up)
-they're moved into their new room (and out of my little study)
-they are sleeping thru the night consistently (YAY!)
-they've tried rice cereal several times (Catherine likes/James does not)
-James is cooing and laughing; Catherine is smiling more and cooing
-they are focusing on further objects (TV, smile when someone walks up to them, loving the crib mobile)
-Catherine can flip from front to back
-Catherine is falling into a daytime nap routine (c'mon James, you can do it!)
They're growing so fast!

At their 4 months check up today:
James: 2' .5" tall; 13 lbs 4.5 oz
Catherine: 1' 11" tall; 10 lbs 15.5 oz

More Funnies from Andrew

"Mom, if I was in another family, I'd marry you. But I can't...I have to marry someone else."

(Another day, again talking about marriage)
Me: Andrew, you marry someone that you really love and that you want to live with forever.
Andrew: But I want to marry you because I want to live with YOU forever!
(melt my heart...oh wait, I have 4 kids...I need to work on getting them out of here!)

(Me: looking at the baseball uniform that Andrew laid out to wear the next day) Andrew, you can't wear a baseball uniform to school.
Andrew: I know. That's for after school.
Me: OK, then I'll pick out something for you to wear to school.
Andrew: OK, but make sure you pick out something AWESOME!

(showing me a picture he drew at preschool) "Isn't it glorious??" (and he was even batting those long lashes while showing me)

"Mom, I don't want to tell you this, but we're not allowed to eat snow at school and sometimes I really want to eat snow and so when I got home I ate some snow off my boot."

Ick!!
