Tonight we were at a birthday party and Andrew didn't want to eat his supper.
Andrew: "Mom, my belly hurts..."
Me: "OK, well then you don't need to eat any birthday cake either."
Andrew: Pausing...thinking..."No worries! I can empty my drain!"
Will: "Mom, you should put that on the blog under the funny kids section!"
They're on to me!

1st Grade!
Today was the first day of 1st grade for Will!
He woke up very excited about the day. He was most excited about the fact that he will now have a desk instead of a table. He has also heard that the 1st graders get to take a field trip to the zoo.
He has an excellent teacher! He came home and said the first day was "awesome"!!
Dad and Will...
"You better be good today, Knucklehead!"
Mom and Will (and babies!)
Guess who missed Will while he was at school today?
His mother!! Because she missed him being here to entertain his little brother!! :)

Our Crazy Summer
I never really like to post about happenings until they're all over and we've returned to normal. Of course, "normal" is quite a subjective term for us. But nevertheless, summer is drawing to a close and we are getting back to "normal".
Like last year, Matt had to do 7 weeks of coursework in Boston for a Masters he is pursuing. Not exactly what you want to work into your plans when you're pregnant with twins and have been told to put your feet up as much as possible. But we decided to go with our plans and pray for the best. We all went with Matt to Boston. Matt's parents met us there for the 4th. We enjoyed the lovely Charles River 4th of July fireworks...from Matt's parents' hotel room. That was the way to go!!
The boys went home with Pops and Mimi and spent the next 3 weeks, yes THREE WEEKS, bouncing back and forth between "Grandcamp" in MS and AL. They had a blast...and didn't seem to miss us a bit. Ww miissed them a lot, but it worked out for the best since I couldn't get up and do much and Matt had to stay in Boston.
The boys had a great time playing with cousins, tubing, eating junk food, flying down the slip and slide, and all the things that go along with summer camp at grandparents.
I do wonder if perhaps things got a little out of hand at the end though...Seems the grandparents kinda lost control of Will and a few friends!
Thanks to all of our family for helping us get thru this summer. Now we're ready for the next phase...BABIES!!

My parents brought them back to OH, my mom stayed with me for a while, then Matt's mom came and stayed (both HUGE helps to me!) and finally Matt was able to return home last night (August 19th) for good!
It was a crazy summer and I'm so happy that we're all home, together, safe and sound!

Passing the Torch...
I am so lucky to have had so much help this summer with the boys. My parents came up and my mom stayed for 9 days. As she flew out, Matt's mom flew in to stay for 11 days!
The passing of the torch went quite smoothly!

Update on Babies
Friday, I had a great check-up. After a little contraction scare on Monday, everything is fine and I'm approaching 34 weeks. The babies are growing right on target. Baby Boy weighs approximately 4 1/2 pounds and Baby Girl weighs about 4 pounds 3 ounces. The doctor was very pleased.
I've never had a 3D sonogram before, but the sonographer was able to do one and catch the perfect face shot of Baby Girl. Looks like she's smiling. :) So amazing!

Indians Baseball Camp
Last week, Will went to baseball camp. But not just any baseball camp...Cleveland Indians baseball camp! It was sponsored by another sports camp he had attended, but this particular camp was all baseball and ended with a visit from 2 Indians baseball players: Frank Hermann and Jason Kipnis.
Jason Kipnis talking to the campers:
Will (maroon shirt) wasn't as starstruck as I was. He seemed more interested in wiggling his loose tooth.
Kipnis signed autographs and answered questions. He seemed like a really nice guy. Will got both players to sign a glove and a baseball. What a great souvenir he'll have!
Will had a great week at camp, said he learned a lot, but most of all he had a lot of FUN!

33 Weeks...We're Getting Ready
I'm in the home stretch and every week feels like an accomplishment.
Actually, just pulling myself up off the couch feels like an accomplishment!

The boys are getting very excited about the babies' arrival.

And they've been helping me get ready. We're thinking these should be enough diapers to get us thru the first week or so, right?

Showers of Blessings!
Last weekend, I was absolutely overwhelmed with blessings from friends here who decided to throw me baby showers. On Saturday, my church friends threw me a shower. I took a medium sized box to bring home the loot. Boy, did I underestimate! I was blown away by the kindness of relatively new friends here. Just goes to show how much your church family loves you and means to you.
TWO CAKES! Already starting to get double blessings!
A yummy spread!

One of the hostesses and great friends, Barb, and me
Another hostess, Sarah, who was gracious enough to open her beautiful home for the shower.

The turnout and generosity was overwhelming
I wanted to lay it all out when I got home to admire and show Matt. We are well supplied for these babies!

Then Monday, another dear friend that I've known thru the hospital house staff spouses group gave me a diaper shower. We are now well stocked up on diapers, wipes, and necessary supplies!

I'm loving the cute TWINS-wear!

We are so thankful for our friends here in OH!!

Welcome to our family blog! I started this blog in 2006 when we moved away from "home". It keeps us in touch with family and friends and it is my scrapbook for my children. This blog is all about our daily life with 4 busy kids and the journey that medicine is taking us on. It's sometimes boring, and sometimes silly. Just consider yourself warned...
